Citadel Base Lupercal Green is a very dark, desaturated green-grey - named for the Lupercal designation of Horus Heresy era Space Marines, it occupies the range of dark, almost-black green used for Salamanders armour in the darkest base interpretations and for any green scheme where maximum depth in the shadows is the priority. It reads as nearly black at gaming distance until the highlights define its green character.
Apply as the foundation for Salamanders armour in a dark scheme, Word Bearers in the darker-green tones some painters use, and any model where a very dark, muted green base will give subsequent lighter greens maximum contrast as highlights are built up. Works as a deep shadow tone for forests, dark terrain and the shadowed underside of foliage on terrain boards.
