Citadel Base Grey Knights Steel is a metallic Base paint from Games Workshop - a lighter, brighter silver metallic than Leadbelcher that provides the specific starting colour for Grey Knights Space Marine armour in the official Citadel painting system. Named directly for the Grey Knights, the anti-daemonic Space Marine chapter who wear gleaming silver power armour, Grey Knights Steel is matched to the distinctive lighter silver of their heraldry and provides better coverage for the particular reflective metal quality the Grey Knights' armour demands.

Use as the base coat for all Grey Knights Terminator and power armour in standard Grey Knights painting schemes (Grey Knights Steel → Nuln Oil wash → Ironbreaker drybrush → Stormhost Silver edge highlights), for Adeptus Custodes guardian-spear and armour trim details that should be lighter than standard Leadbelcher, for Stormcast Eternal armour in bright silver schemes, and for any model where the metallic should read as particularly bright, new or polished silver rather than the slightly darker tone of standard Leadbelcher.
