Citadel Base Abaddon Black is the standard black base paint in the Citadel range - a dense, opaque black with strong covering power that goes over primer in a single coat. It's the starting point for every black-armoured faction in the hobby: Raven Guard, Iron Hands, Deathwatch, Night Lords, Chaos Space Marines in undivided schemes, and hundreds of individual character models where black armour or clothing is the primary colour.

Apply directly over black or grey primer for full coverage in one coat. Works as a lining colour between armour panels after the base colour has been applied, defining armour separation cleanly. Use as the undercoat for black leather, black cloth and any non-metallic area that should read as pure black rather than dark grey.

The black every painter needs. Nothing else in the range achieves the same flat, opaque black coverage in a single brush-applied coat.
