Citadel Base Mournfang Brown is a Base paint from Games Workshop - a warm, mid-range brown that is among the most versatile colours in the Citadel Base range, serving as the starting point for leather, fur, wood grain, and earth tones across virtually every Warhammer faction. Named after the Mournfang, the large cavalry beasts ridden by Ogor Beastclaw Raiders, Mournfang Brown sits in the middle of the brown spectrum - warmer than Rhinox Hide and lighter than Dryad Bark, with enough coverage to serve as the primary base coat for brown surfaces without appearing too dark or too light at the foundation stage.
Use as the base coat for Skaven fur, Chaos Marauder leather armour, Ork leather straps and pouches, Space Marine leather holsters and tabards, any wooden terrain piece or model component, earth and mud on bases, and as the starting point for horse and cavalry beast skin in any faction. Layer with Balor Brown and Baneblade Brown, highlight with Ushabti Bone for the standard GW leather/fur recipe. Also works as the base for Bloodletter skin when the warmer end of the red-brown scale is desired. Applies over black or grey primer.
