Citadel Chaos Black is the standard dark undercoat spray for Citadel miniature painting - the dark primer that starts the majority of Space Marine, Chaos and heavily armoured army colour schemes. Applied before brush painting begins, it bonds well to plastic, resin and metal and provides the slightly textured surface that Citadel paints grip cleanly, without the flatness of straight black or the reduced coverage of diluted brush-on black primer.
Use as the undercoat for Black Templars, Raven Guard, Night Lords, Black Legion and any army where dark armour covers the majority of each model. Also serves as the dark zenithal base for painters using contrast between black-primed recesses and lighter top-coat highlights to create instant depth before painting begins. Works under all Citadel paint families - Base, Layer, Shade, Dry, Technical and Contrast applied over black after dry.
