Tyranids are a horde army at their most natural - large numbers of individually fragile but collectively dangerous organisms that overwhelm opponents through numbers, speed, and close-combat violence. The Assault Brood configuration emphasises the faction's most aggressive element: Hormagaunts flood forward as a screen and assault threat, Genestealers bypass that screen to tear apart armoured targets, and the Broodlord provides a monstrous close-combat centrepiece that threatens any unit in the game. The Combat Patrol format rewards Tyranid aggression because the smaller board and objective layout gives less space for opponents to keep the swarm at range.
