Pylar Glacier is a very pale, cold blue Contrast paint from the Citadel range. Applied over Wraithbone or Grey Seer, it produces an almost white result with a pronounced blue-cold tint - lighter than most other Contrast blues, sitting closer to ice-white than any deep or vivid blue. The Contrast formula pools in surface detail and recesses, creating subtle shading in an overall very pale result.
The primary application for Pylar Glacier is ice and snow effects in basing and terrain - over a white texture or snow-effect base material, it adds the blue shadow that makes artificial snow convincing at tabletop scale. Stormcast Eternals Sacrosanct Chamber models, whose white and light grey armour suits a cold blue shadow, respond well to Pylar Glacier as a shading wash in panel lines. Idoneth Deepkin ethereal seafoam effects, white Space Marine armour on custom Chapters where a blue-tinted white is appropriate, and crystalline basing elements all suit the colour. For the palest Nighthaunt models where Nighthaunt Gloom is too saturated, Pylar Glacier provides an even lighter, more ethereal alternative. The paint is also used in OSL techniques to suggest cold, winter light radiating from icy or arcane sources.
