Ratling Grime is a dirty, desaturated brown Contrast paint named after Ratling Snipers - the diminutive sharpshooter Abhumans of the Astra Militarum. Applied over Wraithbone or Grey Seer, the colour produces an earthy, grimy brown result that reads as dried mud, accumulated filth, or weathered organic material - useful wherever accumulated grime and dirt are the desired result rather than a vivid colour.
The paint's most productive use is in weathering and basing. Applied to boots, lower armour panels, pack straps, and equipment pouches, Ratling Grime simulates the dirt accumulation that campaign-worn infantry carry without requiring multiple glaze passes. On vehicle tracks, lower hull panels, and base rims, the colour creates convincing caked mud. Skaven fur, vermin-brown skin on rats and rodent-based models, and leather straps and belts are natural fits for the paint as a primary coat rather than a weathering effect. Astra Militarum infantry clothing and webbing in muted, field-worn tones can use Ratling Grime to add campaign wear. The Contrast formula flows naturally into fabric creases and recesses, producing realistic-looking dirty cloth from a single coat over a light primer.
