Kill Team: Hivestorm is a complete two-player starter boxed set for the current edition of Kill Team - Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 skirmish game, where small squads of elite or specialist fighters carry out covert operations and tactical raids in close-quarters environments. The set pits Tempestus Scions - the elite storm troopers of the Astra Militarum, armed with hot-shot lasguns and grav-chutes for rapid deployment - against Vespid Stingwings, the insectoid allies of the T'au Empire who fight with neutron blasters in three-dimensional close terrain. The battle is set in Volkus, a vital Hive City in the Chalnath Expanse, and the box contains terrain depicting the urban ruins of that environment.
The Hivestorm box is the most complete Kill Team starting experience - it includes the full Kill Team Core Book (the complete rules reference for the current edition), both kill teams as multipart plastic miniatures, a game board, all tokens, dice, and the Approved Operations card pack providing additional missions and victory conditions beyond the basic mission set. Both kill teams are fully legal in matched-play Kill Team at any level, and the models can also be fielded in standard Warhammer 40,000 games as Tempestus Scions and Vespid Stingwings respectively.
